Sambar or Sambhar is a special type of South Indian soup-like dish normally made from Toor Dal lentils which may include vegetables like onion, tomato, carrot, drumsticks etc. It may be seasoned with mustard seeds, fenugeek seeds and garnished with fresh coriander. Sambar can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or the main course of a meal which is a perfect combination for Idli, Dosa, Vada and Rice.

Preparation Steps for Sambhar – South Indian Special:
1) Blend contents of GITS Instant Sambhar Mix pack in 1200 ml water.
2) Bring to boil stirring occasionally. Add 2 tomatoes chopped or sliced. Simmer cook on medium heat for 15-20 mins. to desired consitency.
Tip: To enhance flavour add your choice of parboiled vegetables like drumsticks, ladyfingers, pumkins etc. singly or in combination.
3) Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot as an accompaniment to Gits Instant Idlis, Dosais and Vadais or as side dish with rice.
Tip: For tastier sambhar, heat 1-2 tsp. pure ghee. Add to a pinch of asafoetida, ½ tsp. mustard seeds and 1-2 redchillies, add it to hot sambhar.
